Dallas-Fort Worth country band West of Nowhere released its self-titled debut album on New Year’s Eve. The group’s six members are from all around the area, but bass guitarist Jerrell Baker calls Sanger home.
West of Nowhere’s brand of contemporary Texas country mixes in a little rock, blues and more, and the band tapped producer Jeff Sturms (a member of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole band) and Nashville writers for the album. W.O.N. (for short) plays regularly at Rodeo Exchange in Fort Worth, Gilley’s in Dallas, and W.W. Fairfield’s in Richardson, where their next stint of shows is Wednesday through Jan. 29.
